To honor the life of Marc Helton, who died Nov. 28, 2010, his friends organized the Marc Helton Memorial Creep Classic, a golf tournament first held Sept. 23, 2011. Marc’s nickname was Creep.
“Marc was very good friends with Sheila and Greg David,” said Lindsey Hickerson. She got the first Creep Classic going, along with committee members Barrett Clayton, Jared Helton, Brian Jump, Trip Rogers and Chris Tipton. “He was always involved with donating to the Makenna Foundation and working with them.” Marc’s family and friends wanted to continue Marc’s contributions to the Makenna Foundation.
People came in from all over the country to attend the inaugural Creep Classic in 2011, to play golf and have lunch, and then everyone had a blast with live music and more food at the after-party. The event raised more than $5,000 for the Makenna Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
